The AIM Diagnostic center has started its operation in Paphos and is a true gem and jewel for the Health sector in Cyprus.

The state-of-the-art center, which is located on Demokratia Avenue and Florinis Street in Paphos (a short walk from Stelios Kyriakides Stadium), was designed exclusively to be a radiodiagnostic center, from the beginning to the end. The Center is equipped with Technology and machines that make it the best of its kind in Cyprus and one of the few in Europe. In addition to the latest radiodiagnostic machines, magnetic and axial tomographs, ultrasound and other cutting edge for the new AIM Diagnostic Center is its human resources. A team of specialised health professionals who are ready to serve you in the most humane way.

It also has an important innovation unique in Cyprus and one of the few in Europe in the Magnetic Tomograph. This specific tomograph model is spacious, having a painted tunnel that offers a more pleasant experience to the patient, while in the Magnetic Tomograph area there is a specially designed window, the only one in Cyprus, which allows natural light to enter the room to combat claustrophobia.

Z&X Mechanical Installations completed all the mechanical installations of the diagnostic clinic, which included:

*All the sewage and planning work and the installation of all sanitary fittings.

*Space cooling and heating with high efficiency.

*VRV system and cooling of the MRI machine by installing a high efficiency Daikin chiller.

*Installation of 20KW photovoltaics to cover the energy needs of the clinic.

Z&X Mechanical Installations, with over 30 years experience in the field and a strong reputation, was proudly appointed as the mechanical engineering company to undertake the construction of Tepak Paphos Project.

The project concerns the construction of the building facilities of the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship Management of TEPAK in Paphos. The School will be housed in a three – story building, with a basement and a ground floor, and will consist of:

The construction of the School aims at the development and revitalization of the area. It also aims at the scientific upgrading of the sector and the interconnection of education with the needs of the labor market, with the consequent increase in the number of qualified personnel available to work in local hotel and tourist units.

In addition, by strengthening the student and academic community in the city, conditions are created for intellectual, economic and social development and flourishing, with the dominant phenomena being the extroversion and openness of the local society both at the national and international level.

 1. The air conditioning systems consist of:

(a) A number of outdoor VRF systems throughout the building for all areas.

(b) Indoor VRF units, both ceiling concealed with grills and cassette type.

(c) A number of split unit type AC units where appropriate (server room, battery room, etc.).

2. A complete domestic hot water reticulation system is to be installed and will consist of:

(a) A network of PPR piping (hot, cold, return) distributing water throughout the building to all areas, kitchens, toilets, staff cousins and public areas as required.

(b) A solar system is installed on the roof to provide domestic hot water heating. The Solar system is using all the available solar energy and at times when it’s not enough, it is supplemented by a heat pump installed on the roof.

The system consists of a number of Solar panels, 2 Hot water cylinders and circulating pumps.

3. A complete plumbing system is to be installed and will consist of:

(a) A network of PPR piping (hot, cold, return) distributing water throughout the building to all areas as required.

(b) Pex – C pipe in pipe and manifolds used for the piping of all the sanitary fittings for both – hot and cold water.

(c) A complete sewage system which consists of UPVC plastic piping within concrete foundations and in floor screeds, and PPR 12 DB exposed piping within ceilings and risers for all the sanitary fittings.

(d) Sewage is mostly gravity fed to the SAPA connection point, except the basement areas, where 2No sewage pits housing 2No pumps each, sent the collected material to the closest manhole 5m upwards.

(e) An inverter pressure pump system is installed to provide high water pressure to all the sanitary fittings, saving water as well as energy.

(f) A softener is installed for water processing, as well as an RO system, to supply water to certain areas in kitchen.

4. A complete firefighting system is to be installed and will consist of:

(a) A pump set that sends water to all fire hose reels and sprinklers with a diesel back up in case of power failure and a jockey pump.

(b) A galvanized pipe network to distribute water to all fire hose reels.

(c) 3No Dry risers, one near each main stairwell to supply water from external sources for fire-fighting.

(d) Sprinkler systems are installed in two areas as described below.

5. A complete ventilation system is to be installed and will consist of several different types. Each type is a system that comprises from a fan, a line of ducting and grilles at several or one end points of the duct. The types are as listed below:

(1) Exhaust Air Removal

(2) Kitchen Hoods Exhaust Air Removal

(3) Kitchen Hoods Fresh Air Supply

(4) Heat Recovery Unit Air Removal & Supply

A complete plumbing system is installed and consists of:

(a) High efficiency VRV system is used for space coiling and heating. 

(b) PPR sewage piping is used for all the sanitary fittings. 

(c) Galvanized pipes and sprinklers are used , fixed on the ground floor and mezzanine ceiling , for fire fighting.

The Amavi is currently under construction by the award-winning Kanika Hotels & Resorts. Upon completion, it will provide a unique heaven for couples; a tranquil, intimate environment where they can escape from the world outside to enjoy blissful relaxation.

Following years of cooperation with Kanika Hotels & Resorts, Z&X Mechanical Installations has proudly been appointed by Kanika Developments for the complete mechanical services installation for Kanika Amavi Hotel in Paphos.

A 5-floor hotel with 155 rooms including various suites, various public areas (bars, restaurants, etc.) 3 public pools and 14 private pools for cabana rooms.

Below is the project description of the works carried out by Z&X Mechanical Installations Ltd.

(A) A complete air conditioning system is installed and consists of:

1. One Multipurpose Chiller /Heat Pump producing hot and cold water at the same time. (Located on the hotel roof 5 floors up)
2. One Chiller / Heat pump producing either hot or cold water as the seasons require for heating or cooling.(Located on the hotel roof 5 floors up)
3. Fan coil units (FCU) to all the rooms supplying heating or cooling (From heat pumps.)
4. Fan coil units (FCU) for small public or staff rooms supplying heating or cooling (From heat pumps.)
5. Air handling units (AHU) supplying heating or cooling to large open public areas via ducting and grills (from heat pumps)
6. PPR (Polypropylene) piping network throughout the hotel supplying hot or cold water to FCU’s, and AHU’s
7. Large 200 mm Diameter main line PPR piping network in risers from Main plant room in the basement to and from Heat pumps on the roof. Butt welding method is used for assembling the various components for these pipes. They are assembled on site and then fixed in position

(B) A complete domestic hot water reticulation system is installed and consists of:

1. A solar system is installed to provide domestic hot water .The Solar system is using all the available solar energy and at times when it’s not enough supplemented by a multipurpose heat pump on the hotel roof and or two boilers in the plant rooms.
2. Multipurpose heat pump supplementing the solar system
3. Two Light Oil/ Kerosene Boilers to supplement the solar system and the Multipurpose heat pump as well as provide heating for the various pools in the hotel.

The system consists of  48 number Solar panels , 3 Hot water cylinders , One Multipurpose heat pump (Also used for Air- Conditioning at the same time), Two Boilers, heat exchanges and circulating pumps.

(C) A complete plumbing system is installed consists of:

1. A network of PPR piping (Hot, Cold, Drinking and Toilets) distributing water throughout the hotel to all rooms and staff and public areas as required.
2. Pex C pipe in pipe piping and manifolds for the piping of all the sanitary fittings for both the hot and cold water as well as the drinking water .
3. A complete sewage system consists of UPVC  plastic piping within concrete slabs and foundations and PPR 12 DB exposed piping within ceilings. for all the sanitary fittings to the first outside manhole.
4. A Number of pumping stations throughout the hotel grounds to send sewage to the main municipal pipe lines.
5. Installation and Connection of all the sanitary fittings to the plumbing and sewage piping and installation of all the accessories.
6. An inverter pressure pump system is installed to provide high water pressure to all the sanitary fittings, saving water as well as energy.

(D) A complete ventilation and fresh air system is installed consists of:

1. Ventilation and fresh air ducting with fans.

(E) A complete fire fighting system is installed and consists of:

1. A pump set that sends water to all fire hose reels with a Diesel back up in case of power failure.
2. A galvanised pipe network to distribute water to all fire hose reels.
3. Two dry risers to supply water from external sources for fire fighting

Z&X Mechanical Installations Ltd has been chosen to be part of the restoration and reuse of Imbahim’s Khan. Our proud team of trained and experienced engineers and technicians have successfully completed the mechanical installations of the project and a list of the works is displayed below.

(A)

A hot water system consisting of 2 No 150L hot water tanks with 3KW element (Restaurant and Bakery) – 6 No. 50L hot water tanks with 2KW element (Guest rooms and changing rooms) and 14 No. 10L / 1.5KW direct flow electric water heaters for workshops.

(B)

A smart VRV system is installed for the space air conditioning and heating of the Restaurant, Bakery and Exhibition area. The systems consists of 3 air cooled Outdoor units (CARRIER) and 15 Indoor units (9 concealed, 4wall types & 2 cassettes). The benefits of the air cooled VRV systems from the spit unit type air conditioning is the efficiency (20 to 30 % higher), the less number of outdoor units and the ability to install the outdoor units much longer distance from the indoors.

CARRIER Split units (2 concealed, 1 cassette and 17 wall types ) are installed in the changing rooms, workshops and guest rooms)

(C)

A complete plumbing system is installed and consists of: (a) Central Pex pipes and manifolds for the piping of all the sanitary fittings for both the hot and cold water as well as the drinking water. (b) a complete sewage system consists of all the PVC plastic piping for all the sanitary fittings to the first outside manhole. (c) connection of all the sanitary fittings to the plumbing and sewage piping and installation of all the accessories. (d) 4 Grundfos CME (Restaurant, Bakery, Coffee shop and Common areas) pressure pump systems to provide high water pressure to all the sanitary fittings, saving water as well as energy.

(D)

Ventilation of the Restaurant and bakery area with a CARRIER HRV (Heat Recovery) unit with ducting and grills which provide re circulation of air conditioned air in conjunction with the VRV system, saving up to 30% on energy costs. All WC areas with inline ceiling mounted fans, ducting and grills.

Air curtains are also installed in the restaurant area.

Ibrahim’s Khan has undergone a massive renovation recently, as part of a wider project to upgrade Paphos town which holds the Cultural Capital of Europe title this year.

Historically, the beautiful old building used to be an inn and the space was also used as an area where merchants and craftsmen would come together.

The use of the individual units have now been defined by the municipality, and a total of 15 units are used mainly for the promotion of the traditional professions and products of Cyprus, as well as the promotion of other local traditions.

“This is a cultural venue and not a modern shopping mall, so it is imperative that we reflect that, we have to promote tradition and we will be strict with who and what is permitted” a spokesman said.

“This is a very important venue in the heart of the old town and will provide an integral meeting place for both locals and visitors alike,” he added.

Exhibitions and other events will be held regularly, as well as demonstrations of traditional crafts.
