Z&X Mechanical Installations, with over 30 years experience in the field and a strong reputation, was proudly appointed as the mechanical engineering company to undertake, supply, install and complete all below works from scratch. 

1. Hot water cylinders with heat pumps are installed for the clusters and hydroboxes connected on VRV for the main building are installed to provide domestic hot water.

2. A smart VRV system is installed for the air conditioning and heating. The system consists of air cooler outdoor units and indoor units. The benefits of the air cooler VRV system from the split unit type air conditioning is the efficiency (20 to 30 % higher), the smaller number of outdoor units and the ability to install the outdoor units much longer.

3. A complete plumbing system is installed consisting of:


( a ) pex pipe in pipe piping and manifolds for the piping of all the sanitary fittings for both the hot and cold water as well as the drinking water .


( b ) a complete sewage system consists of all the pvc plastic piping for all the sanitary fittings to the fist outside manhole.


( c ) connection of all the sanitary fittings to the plumbing and sewage piping and installation of all the accessories.


( d ) an inverter pressure pump system is installed to provide high water pressure to all the sanitary fittings, saving water as well as energy .


( e ) a water softener is installed for the production of soft water , avoiding building up of scale, saving energy and giving long life to all mixers , kitchen equipment and sanitary fittings.

TESSe2b: What – Who – Why – Where

TESSe2b Project – Thermal Energy Storage Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings is a EC financed H2020 four years project, that develops an integrated solution for residential building energy storage using solar and geothermal energy, with the purpose of correcting the mismatch that often occurs between the supply and the demand of energy in residential buildings.

That is achieved by integrating compact Thermal Energy Storage Tanks with Phase Change Materials (PCM TES) coupled with enhanced Phase Change Materials inside the borehole heat exchangers (BHEs), and using an advanced energy management smart self-learning control system.

A demonstration and on-site monitoring evaluation of small scale TESSe2b solution in buildings in three pilot sites (Austria, Spain, Cyprus) are being conducted in order to evaluate the system’s integration into buildings space, to assess the impact of TESSe2b solution in different climates and to provide evidence about its overall technical and economic feasibility.

The second workshop of the project was held in Cyprus hosted by the Cyprus partner, Z&X Mechanical Installations, at Neapolis University in Paphos on 25th April 2018 where TESSe2b preliminary results were presented to Cypriot stakeholders, potentially interested in TESSe2b solution. 
During the day, in the B2B meetings, partners and stakeholders discussed about the benefits and constraints that this solution could face in the market, with special focus on two technical aspects: PCM applications and the control system.

During the next two days all the partners of the project conducted their meetings and also visited the house in Miliou, Paphos where the local demosite will be installed. 

The property is a residential house in Meliou village, a small traditional village, 35km from Pafos town airport and 14km from the Latchi beach area. The surface of the house is 180m2 (100m2 of ground floor and 80m2 of first floor). It is built in a plot of 3500m², which is at a high of 420 m from the sea level. The building is of brick plastered walls and roof tiling. The underground area is rich in geothermal energy due to the number of water springs and underground waters. The house is 28 years old and it’s in good condition.

A smart VRV system is installed for the space air conditioning and heating of the common areas. The system consists of 3 air cooled Outdoor units and 12 Indoor units. The benefits of the air cooled VRV system from the spit unit type air conditioning is the efficiency (20 to 30 % higher), the less number of outdoor units and the ability to install the outdoor units much longer. Split units are used for the workshops – it consists of 21 outdoor units and 21 indoor units.

ALIATHON HOLIDAY VILLAGE – PAPHOS

( A )

A Geothermal system is installed to provide air conditioning and space heating as well as domestic hot water and sulfur hot water for the use in the treatment rooms . Also it is used for the heating of the indoor sulfur heated pools .

The geothermal system is consists of : a) 4 km  of pex pipe horizontal installation .b) 5 Geothermal heat pumps and 5 Heat exchangers for the production of domestic hot water .c) 10 geothermal VRV system for the space air conditioning and heating with water cooled outdoor units and ceeling concealed indoor units , and 90 indoor units.

 

( B )

A solar system is installed to provide domestic hot water. The Solar system is using all the available solar energy and at times when it’s not enough then the geothermal heat pumps are switched ON through a smart BMS control system .

The solar system consists of 240 Solar panels , 8 Hot water cylinders , circulating pumps and solar control station .

 

( C )

A clever smart solar system is installed to provide all the electricity needed for the filtration and circulation system of the swimming pools . It consists of 80 Photovoltaic panels, 8 Solar pumps and 8 Controllers . This system is enough to keep the swimming pool clean and hygiene all day long without the use of any electrical supply.

 

( D )

A smart VRV system is installed for the space air conditioning and heating . The system consists of 12 air cooled  Outdoor units and 96 Indoor units . The geothermal system is consists of : a) 120 Vertical Bore holes of 100m depth each , 24000 M of geothermal heat exchanger total length .b) 5 Geothermal heat pumps and 5 Heat exchangers for the production of domestic hot water , sulfur hot water and heating of the indoor sulfur heated pools .c) 15geothermal VRV system for the space air conditioning and heating with water cooled outdoor units and ceeling concealed indoor units.

( B )

A solar system is installed to provide domestic hot water , sulfur hot water , hot water for the underfloor heating and indoor sulfur water swimming pool heating.The Solar system is using all the available solar energy and at times when it’s not enough then the geothermal heat pumps is switched ON through a smart BMS control system .

( C )

All the electromechanical work , machinery and systems of the swimming pool is installed consisting of : ( a ) all pvc piping from the pumps and filters in the plant room to all the inlets , drains and other fittings in the swimming pool . ( b ) all the fittings in the swimming pool like inlets, drains vacuum point, lights and fixtures. ( c ) all the electrical work like wiring , control and electrical panel , connection of lights, pumps and fixtures. ( d ) supply and installation of all the machinery and equipment in the plant room like pumps , filters and fixtures. ( e ) installation of a smart salinator that is producing chlorine by adding salt into the pool water. When the salty water is passing through the salinator it brakes salt into chlorine that returns back to the pool and natrium gas that is left free to the atmosphere . The benefit of this system is that the produced chlorine doesn’t smell and also it’s very economical.

( F )

A smart BMS ( control system ) is installed complete with sensors , wiring , and control panel to manage all the above described systems ,for maximum efficiency and energy saving .
