The AIM Diagnostic center has started its operation in Paphos and is a true gem and jewel for the Health sector in Cyprus.

The state-of-the-art center, which is located on Demokratia Avenue and Florinis Street in Paphos (a short walk from Stelios Kyriakides Stadium), was designed exclusively to be a radiodiagnostic center, from the beginning to the end. The Center is equipped with Technology and machines that make it the best of its kind in Cyprus and one of the few in Europe. In addition to the latest radiodiagnostic machines, magnetic and axial tomographs, ultrasound and other cutting edge for the new AIM Diagnostic Center is its human resources. A team of specialised health professionals who are ready to serve you in the most humane way.

It also has an important innovation unique in Cyprus and one of the few in Europe in the Magnetic Tomograph. This specific tomograph model is spacious, having a painted tunnel that offers a more pleasant experience to the patient, while in the Magnetic Tomograph area there is a specially designed window, the only one in Cyprus, which allows natural light to enter the room to combat claustrophobia.

Z&X Mechanical Installations completed all the mechanical installations of the diagnostic clinic, which included:

*All the sewage and planning work and the installation of all sanitary fittings.

*Space cooling and heating with high efficiency.

*VRV system and cooling of the MRI machine by installing a high efficiency Daikin chiller.

*Installation of 20KW photovoltaics to cover the energy needs of the clinic. 

The center fully covers all MRI applications.

2. A smart VRV system is installed for the air conditioning and heating. The system consists of air cooler outdoor units and indoor units. The benefits of the air cooler VRV system from the split unit type air conditioning is the efficiency (20 to 30 % higher), the smaller number of outdoor units and the ability to install the outdoor units much longer.

3. A complete plumbing system is installed consisting of:

( a ) pex pipe in pipe piping and manifolds for the piping of all the sanitary fittings for both the hot and cold water as well as the drinking water .

( b ) a complete sewage system consists of all the pvc plastic piping for all the sanitary fittings to the fist outside manhole.

( c ) connection of all the sanitary fittings to the plumbing and sewage piping and installation of all the accessories.

( d ) an inverter pressure pump system is installed to provide high water pressure to all the sanitary fittings, saving water as well as energy .

( e ) a water softener is installed for the production of soft water , avoiding building up of scale, saving energy and giving long life to all mixers , kitchen equipment and sanitary fittings.

The Amavi is currently under construction by the award-winning Kanika Hotels & Resorts. Upon completion, it will provide a unique heaven for couples; a tranquil, intimate environment where they can escape from the world outside to enjoy blissful relaxation.

Following years of cooperation with Kanika Hotels & Resorts, Z&X Mechanical Installations has proudly been appointed by Kanika Developments for the complete mechanical services installation for Kanika Amavi Hotel in Paphos.

A 5-floor hotel with 155 rooms including various suites, various public areas (bars, restaurants, etc.) 3 public pools and 14 private pools for cabana rooms.

Below is an update of the project description of the works carried out by Z&X Mechanical Installations Ltd.

AIR CONDITION AND DOMESTIC HOT WATER HEAT PUMPS (CHILLERS) AND PLANT ROOM PUMPS

(A) One 530 KW Multipurpose Chiller/Heat Pump producing hot and cold water at the same time. Delivered on site and installed in position on the roof.

The machine weighs 8060 Kg, is 7.20 m long and 2.26 m wide

As Indicated by the name the heat pump serves Multi Purposes.

It can supply Chilled water to the air conditioning system whilst simultaneously supplying hot water which is used to heat the Domestic hot water cylinders and swimming pools.

(B) One 530 KW Chiller / Heat Pump producing cold water in summer and hot water in winter. Delivered on site and installed in position on the roof.

The machine weighs 6760 Kg, is 5.8 m long and 2.26 m wide

It can supply either Chilled water for Summer Air conditioning or Hot Water for Winter Air conditioning.

NOTE: Both Heat Pumps / Chillers are equipped with heat recovery, which assists the heating of the Domestic Hot Water Cylinders via a Heat Exchange.

Primary Pumps for circulation of water from Heat pumps to Chillers are installed on the roof.

Secondary pumps for circulation of water from the Heat pumps throughout the hotel for Air conditioning are located in the Plant room. Installation of these pumps is in progress.

TESSe2b Project – Thermal Energy Storage Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings is a EC financed H2020 four years project, that develops an integrated solution for residential building energy storage using solar and geothermal energy, with the purpose of correcting the mismatch that often occurs between the supply and the demand of energy in residential buildings.

That is achieved by integrating compact Thermal Energy Storage Tanks with Phase Change Materials (PCM TES) coupled with enhanced Phase Change Materials inside the borehole heat exchangers (BHEs), and using an advanced energy management smart self-learning control system.

A demonstration and on-site monitoring evaluation of small scale TESSe2b solution in buildings in three pilot sites (Austria, Spain, Cyprus) are being conducted in order to evaluate the system’s integration into buildings space, to assess the impact of TESSe2b solution in different climates and to provide evidence about its overall technical and economic feasibility.

The second workshop of the project was held in Cyprus hosted by the Cyprus partner, Z&X Mechanical Installations, at Neapolis University in Paphos on 25th April 2018 where TESSe2b preliminary results were presented to Cypriot stakeholders, potentially interested in TESSe2b solution. 
During the day, in the B2B meetings, partners and stakeholders discussed about the benefits and constraints that this solution could face in the market, with special focus on two technical aspects: PCM applications and the control system.

During the next two days all the partners of the project conducted their meetings and also visited the house in Miliou, Paphos where the local demosite will be installed. 

The property is a residential house in Meliou village, a small traditional village, 35km from Pafos town airport and 14km from the Latchi beach area. The surface of the house is 180m2 (100m2 of ground floor and 80m2 of first floor). It is built in a plot of 3500m², which is at a high of 420 m from the sea level. The building is of brick plastered walls and roof tiling. The underground area is rich in geothermal energy due to the number of water springs and underground waters. The house is 28 years old and it’s in good condition.

(A)

A Chappee Oil Boiler (NXR3-36) with 4000L underground oil tank with lift pump is installed to provide domestic hot water.

The system consists of 2 Hot water cylinders (FLOGA – 1250L) with Oran Conor heat exchangers, Grundfos circulating pumps, 2 x 3000L UPVC cold water tanks, controls and automation.

The office areas have provisions for split units.

A complete plumbing system is installed consists of: (a)  Central pipes PPR-80 & PEX pipe in pipe piping and manifolds for the piping of all the sanitary fittings for both the hot and cold water as well as the drinking water. (b) A complete sewage system consists of all the PVC plastic piping for all the sanitary fittings to the first outside manhole. (c) Connection of all the sanitary fittings to the plumbing and sewage piping and installation of all the accessories. (d) 1 pressure pump system is installed (Wilo Cor -2mvie) to provide high water pressure to all the sanitary fittings, saving water as well as energy. (e) A water softener (Eco water 5000) is installed to provide soft water to stop the build-up of lime scale in the pipes and fittings, thus extending the life of the system.

(D)

Ventilation of Change room areas is with 2 x Dynair QC714 (Window) units with speed controls. All W.C areas (4) are ventilated with inline fans (Dynair Line Metal), ducting and grills and controls.

(E)

Fire extinguishers are located throughout the stadium.
