When To Change Pool Water: How Often Should I Drain My Pool?

When summer arrives, your pool calls! Swimming is a great way to beat the heat and spend time with friends and loved ones. Have you ever stopped and thought about what’s left in the pool water after getting out? Some of the things left behind include sweat, hair, dead skin cells, fecal matter and sometimes even urine. Let’s talk about when to change your pool water!

Even with a filtration system, pools need to be drained and refilled to ensure it works. Drain your pool completely only if it’s necessary. Hire a professional to do this to make sure your pool stays in top shape.

How Often Should I Change My Pool Water?

This answer greatly varies between pools. The amount of time can range from two months to as long as five to seven years. Some of the following factors come into play:

  • Number of daily swimmers
  • Climate
  • Type of water (hard or soft)
  • Pool maintenance

The more often that you use your pool, the more you will have to change the water. When people go swimming, water comes out of the pool with them. Splashing and carrying water out on your bodies are some examples of how we take water out of the pool after swimming.

The climate makes a difference as well. For example, rain washes bacteria, dirt, algae spores and other debris into your pool. In turn, it can reduce the effects of chlorine which can throw off the water’s pH balance. On hot days, UV rays reduce the amount of chlorine. Chlorine is essential to killing reducing germs that can make swimmers sick. Algae growth becomes more frequent as well because the spores need sunlight and water to grow.

There are two types of pool water. There’s hard water that has more calcium and magnesium ions. Soft water contains few minerals in comparison. Hard water can stop the pool structure from corrosion, but the water that’s too hard can break down fixtures. Soft water makes for a cleaner pool. However, pools need calcium and soft water will take it from the concrete or tiles of an in-ground pool.

Make sure to create a routine when it comes to your pool. This includes cleaning it as well as ensuring the correct pH level. Having a filter will help maintain such levels. You can check them using a water testing kit. Unbalanced pH levels make the water too acidic which causes skin irritation. The appropriate level should be around 7.4.

When Do I Change and Drain My Pool’s Water?

Deciding when to change your pool water is important. Most in-ground pools should be drained and have the water replaced every five to seven years. How often you drain your pool depends on a couple of things:

  • Maintenance and upkeep
  • Usage
  • Environment

Drain your pool during the mild season when it’s not too hot and not too cold. Spring and autumn are ideal times of the year. This will prevent pool surfaces and filtration systems from being damaged by sun, heat or moisture. You should avoid draining the pool for cleaning as this is done underwater most of the time.

Draining your pool after heavy rain or storms will add extra pressure to the bottom of the pool. This in turn creates a water table that creates a heavy weight of excess water that damages the pool’s floor. Drainers and skimmers will do most of the work for you when it rains. However, it’s always best to clean any debris out of the pool manually because the filter will not get everything.  So there are a few occasions when you will need to drain your pool after the rain.

How Should I Drain Pool Water?

Determine whether your pool needs to be drained by speaking to a professional. Pool maintenance can be done when the pool is partially full. Hire a professional pool maintenance contractor or company to drain your pool if you determine your pool needs to be drained. Hiring a professional to drain your pool costs less than fixing a bad draining.

If you choose to take on draining your own pool, it’s best to use a submersible pump. Using the filter pump is the less appealing option because it’s expensive to replace. Drain your water into a sewer line on your property and make sure to not drain more than 12 gallons per minute. The process takes at least a couple of days. If you are not experienced, always hire a professional to drain your pool!

How Do I Keep Water in my Pool Longer?

Maintaining the appropriate level of chlorine makes all the difference. It kills bacteria and germs, controls organic debris perspiration and body oils and deters algae. Shower before hopping into the pool. Chlorine reacts to:

  • Sweat
  • Makeup
  • Sunscreen
  • Perfume
  • Lotion
  • Urine and fecal matter

All of these are things that can be found on swimmers entering the pool. This can react to chlorine and is the reason that some pools end up with a strong odour. A scent coming from the pool can be a sign that there are multiple compounds in the pool reacting with chlorine.

To maintain water quality and pool infrastructure, chlorinate the water daily. It prevents algae and microorganisms from growing. Clean the pool using suction sweepers and brushes on alternating days. Maintain a pH level between 7.2 and 7.6 to avoid irritating your skin. It’s recommended to have 1 ppm (part per million) of chlorine to kill algae or bacteria effectively.

Having an effective water filtration system recirculates water and returns it to the pool. Quickly removing filterable contaminants reduces the impact on the disinfection system.

Backwashing removes organic materials from your pool and keeps the water clean. This removes built-up contaminants from the pool by reversing the flow of water through the filter.  This sends them to waste or out through the hose connected to the pump. Backwash your pool filter before adding any chemicals to the water.

In Conclusion

Making sure that your pool is drained at the right time is as important. Knowing when to change your pool water is a key part of your pool lasting longer. It’s also makes swimming safer for you, your family and friends!

    Pool Maintenance After Heavy Rain

Has your area been hit by a heavy downpour lately? Has it made you wonder how it could affect your lovely new fiberglass pool?

If not dealt with quickly, lots of rain in and around your pool can indeed have a negative effect. It’s true that lots of rainfall can be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to maintaining your pool, but it’s nevertheless necessary to take certain steps to look after your pool to get it back to optimal condition after significant wet weather.

Take note of the following recommendations so that the next time heavy rain arrives at your place, your pool can be back to sparkling condition ASAP, and you can once more focus on making memories in it.

    Dealing with an Overflow

Depending on your pool’s type of filter, there are different steps to take when excess water is in your pool. If you have a cartridge filter, start by fitting your pool hose to the 3-way-valve and place the other end into an open gully trap or septic tank (this water needs to go into a waste-water system), before you turn the handle on the valve to divert water through the hose. Then, turn the pool pump on and adjust water to the right level.

If your pool has a sand filter, change your multi-port valve to its waste setting. Follow that step by turning the pool pump on and bring down the water to the right level to have the water re-circulate as it should.

    Water Beneath the Pool

After heavy rain, be sure to check your standpipe/inspection pipe to ensure that water that has collected underneath the pool gets pumped out. By getting rid of this water, you prevent the occurrence of such problems as ‘floating’ hydrostatic valves. Consider the weather patterns in your location; if you are based somewhere that is often impacted by heavy rain, you will need to be more aware of water underneath your pool than those living in drier areas. One of two methods can be used to pump out the water underneath your pool. The first is to use your pool pump and skimmer box and the second is to use a Slurpy pump (a small pump available at hardware stores).

    Re-balance your Pool

The water in your pool will be affected by heavy downpours, so it’s important to constantly check and log your water chemistry. After a period of heavy rain, the composition of your pool water – ie. minerals and chemicals – will have been diluted, so you will have to adjust the chemistry to return the water to the correct balance and keep it in tip-top condition. Make sure to check and adjust PH, total alkalinity, chlorine, stabiliser, sanitiser and calcium hardness where necessary. Contact your local pool shop to organize regular checks of your pool water, and regular pool cleans if you wish.

The maintenance tips mentioned above are important to remember at any time, but especially when your property has experienced significant rainfall. No matter the weather, your Pool Owners’ Manual is your perfect pool maintenance companion, so ensure you refer to it to maintain your specific pool correctly.

What Are The Benefits Of Using A Central Heating System In The Home?

Choosing the right heating system for your property can make a world of difference for both people and pets. Modern ducted heating systems tend to be the best option overall due to being both extremely cost-effective and highly customizable. Here are the 5 main benefits central heating systems provide:

        1. Comfort & convenience

No one likes to come home to a cold home, let alone spend time in one. Even if you have a great electric heater or air conditioner, you will still have to wait ages for them to fully warm up your living space.

Central HVAC eliminates this problem by enabling you to set consistent temperatures throughout the day. Smart thermostats and other modern features even enable you to set specific temperatures for each room, automatically lower the temperatures while you are asleep or outside, and so on. What’s more, floor heating keeps you and your loved ones comfy in a way that other heating systems simply can’t match.

        2. It’s healthier

Central heating systems maintain even temperatures throughout a home. This helps prevent various health issues such as asthma, hypothermia, bronchitis, strokes, and heart attacks. It also reduces condensation in your property, which reduces the risk of mold and mildew.

        3. Eco-friendliness

Today’s central HVAC systems produce a lot less carbon dioxide and use up less energy than electric heaters and other types of heating. This is especially true of geothermal heating systems, which use the natural heat in the earth to warm up your home during the cold winter months.

        4. Saves you money

Modern central heating systems are far more energy-efficient than their older counterparts. This provides significant savings in the form of reduced utility bills all year round (and especially during winter) and enables you to recoup part of or most of the cost of your heating system installation after only a few years.

        5. Boost to property value

Properties that are equipped with central HVAC systems are highly sought after on the real estate market. If the heating system in your house is still under warranty and/or relatively new, your home will be far more likely to attract the right kind of buyer.

Paphos Municpality Will Build New Student Dorms

The municipality of Paphos is investing another €14 million for the construction of 203-room student residences and Z&X Mechanical Installations is proud to be part of this project which will be completed within less than a year from now (by 25/09/2024).

Paphos municipality signed a contract on Friday for the construction of the new student accommodation rooms, as the mayor vowed that major changes are on the way.

Paphos mayor Mr. Phedonas Phedonos said he is very proud that about 90 contracts have been signed in recent years that have “transformed Paphos”. The latest is the student accommodation project, which includes the municipality having paid €1.2 million for about 5,000 square meters of land. The accommodation will provide 203 rooms of 24 square meters each. The third phase of the project is centered on building tennis and basketball courts, parking spots, and green spaces, that will cover 32 plots, the mayor said. He said the accommodation should be ready within 11 months, with the works being carried out by A. N. Ioannou Construction Ltd.

The mayor thanked the church committee for agreeing to join the plots of land on which the Cyprus University of Technology Paphos (Tepak) is located with land on which a church is located, along with the land of the student accommodation.

Mr. Phedonas also explained that the state has provided a significant amount of land for Tepak’s agricultural institute in Acheleia. He emphasized that the municipality is determined to continue upgrading the area as it works alongside private property owners, including businesses and shop owners. The mayor praised Tepak’s presence in Paphos as “increasing the critical mass of the city, [it’s] a step towards creating a new pillar in the district’s economy”. The recent projects, he said, have transformed the city’s identity and broadened its horizons.

Other positive changes have been a significant upgrade of the tourism product and sector, the creation of new jobs, and the enrichment of society and the district’s culture. It was reported in September that classes got underway at the Paphos branch of the Cyprus University of Technology with 300 students enrolled. Mr. Phedonos hailed the modern higher education facilities, with final costs estimated at €20m, as he said the university expects a future enrolment of 1,000 students in total.

The Tepak School of Tourism Management, Hospitality, and Entrepreneurship is joined in Paphos by a branch of the American University of Beirut.

Cyprus Set To Launch ‘Photovoltaics For All’

            Exciting news for all homeowners!

“Photovoltaics for All” is a program, making it simpler and more affordable to have rooftop solar panels.

This new program is part of the government’s efforts to help people in need. It’s aimed at giving everyone access to the benefits of solar power, without the big upfront costs.

In a bold move to expedite the transition to green energy, the Ministry of Energy is gearing up to unveil a groundbreaking solar energy production initiative that promises to reshape the balance between conventional and green energy sources.

Under the banner of “Photovoltaics for All,” the government’s ambitious plan seeks to lower electricity tariffs while boosting the adoption of renewable energy sources (RES).

Notably, this project distinguishes itself from past endeavors by eliminating restrictions on the number of beneficiaries. This means that any interested individual can apply for the installation of photovoltaic panels on their roof for self-consumption without the need for an initial capital investment. Moreover, users can anticipate a 50% reduction in their electricity bills once the system is operational.

            No Bank Loans Needed

You won’t need to get a bank loan to make this happen. The money for the project comes from the Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Conservation Fund. They will cover the cost of buying and installing the solar panels.

            How It Works

Once the solar panels are up and running, you will start paying for them through your electricity bill from the AHK or another electricity company. This payment is about €150 every two months. But don’t worry, you will save more on your electricity bill, thanks to the solar panels.

            The Five-Step Process

The “Photovoltaics for All” project aims to streamline the installation process, with bureaucratic procedures and system setup estimated to be completed within three months of application. Here are the five essential steps to install a photovoltaic system in your home:

-Application (anticipated start date: January 1, 2024).
            -Installation approval.
-Sponsorship payment (options of €1000 or €1500).
            -Photovoltaic panel installation.
            -Connection to the grid.

Notably, recent data suggests a significant reduction in delays for RES generation connections, with the number of pending requests dropping from 1000 to below 100.

            Who Can Benefit?

The “Photovoltaics for All” plan is designed to cater to a wide audience, particularly targeting small and medium-sized homes. Prospective beneficiaries can choose between two grant options: €1000 and €1500. Under the €1000 grant, applicants are not required to make an initial capital investment for the photovoltaic installation, and the maximum solar energy production is capped at 4.5 kW.

Repayment will occur through installments (€150 on each electricity bill) over three years. On the other hand, the €1500 grant mandates a one-time installation payment, while there is no restriction on solar energy production.

Funding for this initiative will come from the RES and Energy Saving Fund (RES – ex.(E)), which is bolstered by European funds dedicated to green initiatives. Additionally, resources from the emissions fund may also be utilized, creating a continuous cycle of funds flowing to consumers for green energy production and repaid in installments to the fund.

            Immediate Benefits

The advantages of this project will become evident as soon as the photovoltaic system goes live. Those opting for the €1000 sponsorship option can expect their electricity bills to be halved. For instance, with an average consumption of €370, consumers will pay only €30 every two months for fixed charges, in addition to the €150 repayment installment for the photovoltaic system—amounting to a total of €180.

Overall, it’s estimated that the investment in a residential photovoltaic system in Cyprus will be amortized in approximately five years, taking into account the RES and ex Fund.E sponsorship (or six years without sponsorship). It’s worth noting that the lifespan of a photovoltaic system exceeds 20 years.

            Network Modernization

The “Photovoltaics for All” plan is poised to drive the modernization and enhancement of the electricity transmission and distribution network. Recognizing that the existing infrastructure is outdated and in need of an upgrade, the Energy Minister has initiated a redesign process aimed at transforming it into a “smart” grid, increasing electricity capacity.

Additionally, the grid will be equipped with battery meters to facilitate energy storage, primarily for nighttime use. Consultations regarding the bolstering of the network with batteries have concluded, and installation is set to commence within the next two years. However, it’s acknowledged that the full upgrade will coincide with the launch of solar energy production under the “Photovoltaics for All” project.

5 Ways To Prepare Your HVAC System For Autumn

Although it’s not cold outside yet, it will soon be. The biggest mistake you can make right now is to wait until the autumn sets in to find out if your HVAC system is functioning properly. Don’t do that!

An HVAC unit works throughout the year, maintaining a cozy temperature indoors during summer and winter. It becomes necessary to perform proper maintenance on your HVAC system at regular intervals. The last thing you want in September is your HVAC system to break down and leave you shuddering with cold. Avoid problems with your unit this autumn and winter by taking these precautions to ensure a properly operating system.

              Clear The Debris

Outdoor elements of an HVAC unit takes the full-brunt of elements. Each summer, they get covered with grime, leaves, pollen, and twigs and obstruct the flow of air to the interior of your HVAC system. Clear all of that debris from your units in September.

              Change The Air Filter

Temperatures can easily cross 30 degrees during Paphos summers. It is the season when HVACs run almost non-stop, and air filters get the dirtiest; making their replacement necessary before the onset of autumn. A dirty air filter obstructs air flow, causes your furnace to work harder, and costs you more money.

              Inspect Insulation

In a perfect world, your system’s insulation functions properly throughout the year. But real life has this nasty habit of coming in the way. If your energy bills were higher than usual during summer, it’s high time you speak to a technician or perform an insulation check yourself.

              Ensure The Unit Is Level

Summers don’t change landscapes, but they damage the pads on which your HVAC unit rests. After a season of high day temperatures, your system may not be on level ground; causing non-uniform lubrication in the compressor and eventually burning it out. Repairs are costly. Either ensure yourself that your unit is level or hire an HVAC contractor for the job.

              Schedule A Preventative Maintenance

If you live in Paphos, the end of summer and beginning of autumn is the perfect time to call an HVAC contractor. An inspection by an experienced technician will ensure that your furnace is ready for the cold months. It will also prevent unpleasant breakdowns between September and April.

Transitioning from summer to autumn means taking care of your HVAC maintenance tasks. Putting off regular maintenance by an experienced HVAC contractor now may lead to ugly and uncomfortable surprises during the cold months.

Prevent avoidable problems. Call at +357 26945222 and schedule a pre-autumn HVAC maintenance for a cozy, warm autumn and winter.

Mineral Water Pools — Are they Worth It?

When deciding on and selecting a new swimming pool you will be faced with a huge range of choices; shape, design, colour, finish, position, surroundings, heating, lighting. While these are all important aspects of your swimming pool’s design, there is one other factor — arguably the most important one — that is often forgotten. Water.

Many prospective swimming pool buyers are not even aware that there are options available for the water in your pool. Water is water, isn’t it? H20. It’s all the same stuff, right? The reality is that while the water itself may the same, the additives and filtration systems required to keep your pool clean and healthy come in many different forms, the main contenders being chlorine, salt-water, and mineral water.

Chemical dosing systems, usually chlorine, have been used in swimming pools for decades. They do work and keep the pool nice and clean, but they come with several downsides, mostly because it just adds chlorine to the pool water it leaves your skin and hair dry, stings the eyes, has a distinctive smell, and has negative environmental consequences. Saltwater pools similar to Mineral pools avoid many of these drawbacks, but what exactly are they and how do they work?

What is a Salt and Mineral Water Swimming Pool?

These types of swimming pool avoid the need to have many harsh chemicals around your pool as they generate their own sanitizers by using a system of electrolysis to keep the water bacteria and algae free. Similar to all other systems, the water is cycled through a sand filter, however, in the case of a mineral water pool, it is specifically through a filter filled with glass media (which achieves a much higher level of water clarity. The beauty of these electrolysis systems is that they are far lower maintenance than chlorine dosing systems, plus they provide a greater feel for bather comfort.

A mineral pool takes bather comfort to another level, by swapping out most of the salt for a combination of salts and minerals the water takes on a new feel and condition by making the water softer and gentler on the skin, eyes and hair. The original and authentic mineral water pools, is the worlds only salt free mineral pool and provides the pinnacle of bather comfort and water clarity by removing all added sodium content from the pool. This means after a swim all the sticky residue on the skin or that tangling feeling in the hair is gone.

                Benefits To Your Pool

Maintaining a mineral water pool is not any harder than maintaining a chemical pool, in fact, in many ways, it’s easier as the minerals and additives can better help to keep problems at bay.

At the heart of most mineral pools is magnesium and for good reason, magnesium pools have some of the best water clarity around. Due to the way magnesium interacts with the water and filtering systems, it’s excellent at helping to filter out tiny micro-particles that can cause pool water to appear slightly discoloured or murky. It also works to prevent calcium build-up on components and surfaces, which means cheaper repair and maintenance costs in the long-term and less pool downtime, a win-win!

                Benefits To Your Health

Mineral water pools aren’t just a great way to keep the water clean and clear, they also offer more than a few health benefits. Magnesium plays a crucial role in many of our bodies systems, especially for bones and tissue (skin), and what’s more, the body absorbs magnesium transdermally, i.e. through the skin.

It makes skin feel soft, silky, and luxurious — which is especially noticeable compared to other methods such as chem dosing or saltwater systems which dry out skin and hair. It’s benefits to the skin don’t end there, though. It has further been shown to help with conditions such as eczema, acne, and sensitivity, while also restoring the natural elasticity of your skin.

Magnesium is also great for helping tired and sore muscles relax and unwind, and when used before an intense workout, by taking a relaxing soak, it helps to prevent muscle fatigue and tearing.

The premier mineral pools system have only salt free solution available. What’s the big deal about that, you probably ask? Because there is no added sodium the uptake of magnesium thru the skin is enhanced, the sensitivity to environmental factors is also increased as the water can be used for irrigation purposes (i.e. you can use your backwash water for watering your garden), plus the need for backwashing is reduced.

                  Pool Party

Cleaning Your Pool After A Pool Party

If you have a pool, you are probably already planning your next pool party. After all, who doesn’t love a great pool party? In fact, friends and family may be waiting for an invitation to enjoy your beautiful pool. The problem lies in the aftermath – parties can wreak havoc on your swimming pool. If a pool party is on your summer schedule this year, consider some tips for cleaning up the mess after.

Throw a pool party! But use these tips to clean it up afterward:

                  Test the water

After a party, test the pH of your pool’s water before taking a swim to determine if you need to add chemicals or not. Ask your pool retailer about purchasing testing kits and supplies. Also, it does make sense to plan on shocking or super-chlorinating your pool before and after to ensure your guest’s a great experience. Just remember to allow ample time for the chlorine to settle before allowing anyone to get in the water. This will cut down on any algae growth that can impede the sheer beauty of your swimming pool, but more on shocking your pool later!

                  Run the pump

If you want to cut down considerably on the time you will spend cleaning your pool later implement a garden hose near the pool. The mere act of hosing off feet before entering the pool can save significantly on the dirt, debris, and foliage that finds its way into the water. This is such a simple act, and typically, quite easy to do. Create a little foot cleaning station near the pool and encourage guests to use it. You will be so glad that you did!

                  Give it a brush

Brushing the sides of your pool removes any algae, dirt, or debris that could be clinging to the walls and surfaces of your swimming pool. This is a task that you should do every day during peak swim season if only to remove the potential for algae to bloom along the walls. Nobody wants to take a swim in a pool with slippery green algae growing in it!

                  Think about food & drink

Naturally, there will be food and drink at a party. Know that food and drink do present issues and challenges around your pool, particularly when it comes to keeping it out of the water. Don’t hesitate to set limits or boundaries when it comes to food and drink near the pool. For instance, never use glass bottles or drinkware that could potentially break and cause serious injury. Also, offer stations near seating for food and drink that will encourage guests to enjoy refreshments there- rather than dragging them back to the water. Of course, rules are often made to be broken and you may find yourself fishing food and debris from the pool. Grab a net and skim the water a bit- it will be fine!

                  Shock your pool

Shocking the water in your swimming pool is a good way to ensure all the bacteria and contaminants are removed before you and your loved ones get in. After you have removed larger debris, like grass, dirt, and leaves, shock the water to get it clean after hosting others for a swim. It makes sense to shock the water ahead of your party to provide your guests with the cleanest, crystal clear water possible, but make sure to allow ample time after chlorinating before your guests will swim.

Clean & clear the pool area

Before and after your party, plan on clearing and cleaning the pool deck and surrounding area. Mow any grass and reposition potted plants or trees to open up and expand your pool area. Get rid of toys, yard art, or other items that could be obstacles or hazards when you have guests. Also, hose down decks and patios, taking care to scrub away algae if needed. Algae can make these surfaces slick and could potentially cause a fall. After the party, take care to clean and sanitize the furniture and pool toys to get them ready for the next time. It is just another step that pool owners can take to preserve a pristine pool area and greenspace.

                  Welcome your party guests

Take time to prepare and welcome guests with items that actually make your work a little easier when they leave. For instance, plant a basket of flip-flops near the entrance to your pool area. Guests that wear these instead of going barefoot will drag less debris in your pool or in your home. Consider gifting cute plastic water bottles or cups for refreshments that will be used in lieu of more problematic glass or aluminum alternatives.

                  Pool Party

                  Call the pool professionals

Do you plan on hosting pool parties in the warmer months? Save time by knowing how to clean your pool after a pool party! Pool Accessories You Need to Know About

The purchase of a new swimming pool is an exciting journey for you and your family. The process of selecting a pool and having it customised presents you with a vast number of choices: what type of pool do you want, what size and shape is best suited to your backyard, what colour should the shell and surrounds be, and what additional landscaping features should you incorporate into your new backyard swimming pool space. These choices are only the start of the process, though. They comprise the core foundations and building blocks that make up your swimming pool, but they are far from the only choices and decisions you will have to make on your journey to swimming pool ownership.

The pool accessories you select for your swimming pool will define your experience as much as anything else. The right choice of accessories can transform your swimming pool, make it easier to clean, cheaper to run, and add new versatility and purpose.

                    Swimming Pool Cleaners

Keeping your pool clean can often feel like an endless task, especially if you have trees and shrubbery in your garden that like to shed leaves and debris into the pool. Manual cleaning options often work perfectly well, but they do take significant time and effort. Robotic cleaners offer a powerful way to keep your swimming pool sparkling clean with minimal effort from you.

                    Pool Heating

Swimming in the cold doesn’t have to be a challenge, and it would be wasteful to lose access to your swimming pool for half of the year when the weather isn’t as warm. Pool heating solutions will help to ensure that whatever challenges the weather presents, your pool is always warm and ready to go.

Various heating options are available from gas and electric to solar-powered depending on what you are looking for and what your budget is. Each type has its own pros and cons so be sure to discuss them with your pool builder to find the right option for you. In addition to heating options, pool blankets can also be a worthwhile accessory to keep the heat in the pool and prevent evaporation in the summer, saving you money in upkeep.

                    Pool Lighting

Lighting accessories can be a great way to add some style and ambience to your swimming pool in the evenings. Several varieties of lighting options can be incorporated into your pool design depending on the effect you are looking to achieve. Subtle, natural lighting can be great for a relaxing spa-type experience, whereas colour changing LED lighting can add a fun element to parties.

                    Spa Experiences

There is nothing quite like the feeling of bubbling water jets to help you relax and unwind and ease sore and tired muscles. Spa jets or bubble spa nooks are a great way to transform your swimming pool into a high-class spa experience.

                    Swimming Accessories

Sometimes the space you have available limits the size of the swimming pool you can fit in your backyard. Smaller swimming pools can present a challenge for those that want to use their swimming pool for swimming laps. Adding swim jets—powerful water jets that allow you to swim in one position—to your pool, gives you the option of getting a workout in even the smallest of swimming pool designs.

                    Water Features

Water features can be a wonderful addition to your pool area, adding a fun and relaxing feature to the space. These can be the finishing touch of a sunpod, or a fun addition of a waterfall for a family fun area—the possibilities are endless.

                    Pool Automation Options

In combination with the other accessories mentioned in this article are pool automation solutions. Automation solutions allow you to tie all your pool technologies and accessories together and automate everything from heating to lighting and cleaning, guaranteeing that even if you forget to prepare the pool, it’s always ready and waiting for you to take a dip.
